"Sun"day

I'm not sure I really am in the Bay area -- it feels much more like Seattle. Rain, wet, grey. "I feel right at home."

I cleaned the bathroom today. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The previous tenant left me all sorts of neat toys, including some disinfectant wipes and toilet bowl cleaning liquid. (Okay, maybe not "toys" in the proper sense of the word.) The Housewares industry should take note -- gift each new tentant $20 worth of cleaners and such as free samples. It's working on me -- I'm going to buy more of the disinfectant wipes.

I've done lots of cleaning this weekend b/c it's been too wet to cycle anywhere. I finally had to go out just to go out, and walked to the hardware store and Office Max. I own a stapler now! A nice Swingline 747 model. I'm so happy. I also installed a hook in the ceiling and brought my Devil's Ivy inside. I drilled a few pilot holes to be sure I found a truss to fasten in to. The ivy's heavy enough that it'd pull a hook out if it was only in sheetrock.

Someone at the Lamplighter had a bicycle stolen from the laundry room this weekend. That's a bummer. It's especially disappointing for the folks here, because it's the first theft in at least 5 or 6 years from the unit. And, the bike was in the locked laundry room. I'm going to be extra careful to lock up my bike very carefully for the foreseeable future.

Dinner this evening is going to be a burrito from El Burrito Real, my favorite burrito place around here. Then, off to my friend Karl's to watch Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings. The company's taking everyone out to see Two Towers on Wednesday (we've reserved 700 seats over two showings) and Karl hasn't seen the first one yet. Should be fun. Heh. His livingroom is set up with "stadium seating": he has two futons, with the back row one propped up about 2' on cinderblocks. So everyone can see the screen unobstructed. If I ever put in a big screen TV or a theater room in a house, that's what I'm going to do, too.
