I helped a friend of mine assemble an Ikea chest of drawers today. One of the few pre-assembled pieces in the box was damaged so we took it back to Ikea for an exchange. The Returns and Exchanges area there looks way to much like an emergency room. There's a large waiting area, with each person holding some broken piece of merchandise. Everyone looks sorta glum, presumably because the table/bureau/chair/lamp/whatever they've grown to love has been injured in some way. And, everyone ends up waiting about 20 minutes to see an attendant. When our number was finally called, we handed over the broken part and the receipt, and about 3 minutes later we had a new part. Pretty neat -- didn't have to bring in the entire box or anything. I'm sorta curious just how that magic worked.
Anyway, the similarities to a hospital ER were just way too eerie for me.
