Toad the Wet Sprocket

This evening I went to a Toad the Wet Sprocket concert at the Mountain Winery with fourpaws. The Mountain Winery is a fantastic concert venue! The winery is at the top of a hill in Saratoga and has great views of San Jose. Both day and night the scene is easy to drink in. For concerts there's a small soundstage with seating for 800-1000 people (just my guess), but the most distant seats are about 150' from the stage. Compared to Shoreline Amphitheatre, where I saw Counting Crows and the Goo Goo Dolls, the Winery is a cozy, intimate setting. Tickets tend to be pricy, probably partly because there aren't so many, but were worth the extra dollars.

I don't listen to Toad often but the music was great to hear live. The lead singer has a nice singing voice for rock. The band's been together for 20 years, and the lead singer is 35. That's impressive!

This past weekend I was in Saratoga for BANG 16, a puzzle hunt adventure. Saratoga is a cute town with some interesting looking restaurants. And it's not all that far from Mountain View -- 15-20 minutes when traffic's light. I need to visit more often.
