The best things about this house: the large space. Everything else I've looked at comparable has been smaller inside: small bedrooms, smaller family room, even possibly lower ceilings though I'm not 100% sure. I like my current apartment a lot because it's very large. Another plus about this house: every room, including the bathrooms, has an exterior window. That's one of my must-haves.
Oh, and it has a washer and dryer hookup! The owner would even buy the appliances if the future tentant would like. Having a washer and dryer of my very own, inside my dwelling, is very very near the top of my list.
The bad things about this rental: the interior is a little ... soiled. Not like it's *dirty*, but the place would look a lot better if Merry Maids spent an hour there. Some things can't be so easily fixed, though. I saw what appear to be water or mildew stains near several windows, and water damage next to the showers or bathtubs in both upstairs baths. I know, I wouldn't own the place, and the landlord would have to fix any problems that may be chronic, but I don't want to live in a rental that may always have something wrong with it.
Also, despite the large family room and kitchen, the only egress between the two is a single doorway, with a door. Worse, the door either blocks the egress to the kitchen or it blocks the entrance to the downstairs bath. Taking the door itself out would be an improvement. Knocking out some of the adjacent wall would make the downstairs an incredible social venue. I don't see the landlord doing that just if I ask, though.
I think I'll pass on this house. It's a better space than what I have in some ways, but not as good in other ways. I'll hold out until I find something that's still yet better.
