My attached tissue graft is done, I'm now just waiting for everything to heal. The periodontist was running late this morning, so what should have been a 45 minutes appointment kept me in the office for two and a half hours. I'll spare the details of the surgery, mostly because I'm tired this evening, but: it wasn't as bad as I could have feared. In all, it was about the same as a root canal, and way easier than an extraction.
Post-op, I have a big wad of putty-like stuff between my lower lip and my teeth, protecting the graft area. Because of this (and because of the graft, obviously), I can't eat anything that needs a lot of front-teeth biting, and I can't eat anything that's granular. I tried some cottage cheese and scrambled eggs this evening, but it led to much pain. Anything that pulls my lower lip out is painful. I'm content with an all blender foods diet, though: milk, Ensure, pudding, etc. I'm on Vicodin for the pain, which seems to help pretty well.
