Eating at the Loving Hut

It's a cold night in the Sunset tonight so I wanted warm food for dinner. Melinda saw a new restaurant on Irving today so we gave it a try. It's Loving Hut, a vegan restaurant drawing from Asian recipes. The food was way beyond expectations. We had won ton soup, corn soup, green beans, curry, and carrot cake. The won ton soup was entrée-sized and you'd be surprised the won tons don't use meat. The curry had a nice ginger note and lots of potatoes. I liked everything. And it fit the bill for being warm food on a cold evening.

The odd thing is that Loving Hut is associated with Ching Hai aka "Surpreme Master." She's a spiritual teacher, as the Wikipedia states, and the Loving Hut is dripping with her propaganda. The menus and the take-out menu have a one-pager on how global warming would stop if only everyone was vegan. In a corner of the restaurant a TV plays Supreme Master TV non-stop. It was a little surreal and felt a little like I was eating at a cult meeting hall. But the food was good!
