My research paper: the final conclusion

I've finally decided to not submit to WWW2003. The paper was unlikely to get accepted, mainly because what I'd written was not a conference paper. 8) Instead, what I have is about three-quarters of the way to (what I think is) a good pedagogical piece on how to go from a web site + logs to user sessions and naviagtion trails. It's of interest to people who will attend WWW, but it's not conference paper material. It's more of a newsletter or magazine article fare.

So, I'll not submit, look for another venue, and retarget the work there. In the end I'd be much more proud of an article in a widely-read magazine or newsletter than a short paper in a session in the Alternate track of WWW.
