Another day

I saw LotR:Two Towers today, with 480 other people from my work (they bought out the 4pm showing at a local theater). Nice movie. The entire thing is pretty darn believable -- I couldn't tell which sets were painted canvas and which were real, nor which monters were actors vs. which were CG. The movie was dark where it should be, told the story pretty well, and had some bits of comic relief (perhaps one or two too many bits).

At three hours long, though, I'm not going to rush back to see it again anytime soon. Maybe right before the Return of the King comes out.

In other news...

I'm on the PC for the Applications track of WWW2003. The PC chair sent e-mail yesterday reminding us that we all have 3 or 4 reviews due this Friday, and the other 3 or 4 due January 3rd. Oi. Time to start reading. I'm half-way into one right now. I like the work, but the writing needs to be cinched up. It'll probably get a thumbs up from me. I haven't read enough of any of the other 6 papers I've been given to have an opinion yet. I guess that'll change by Friday.

Oh, and, I'm heading home Friday evening. I have the airport shuttle all lined up. Just gotta print my boarding pass before I head out. Then to home, where I'll worry about finishing all my Christmas shopping as I normally do -- at the last minute.
