Why is setting up an inkjet printer under linux so hard? foomatic? lpdng? mf_wrapper? PPDs? Look, I know what /etc/printcap is for, I know that :if: is some sort of filter, and that ghostscript takes a PostScript file and make it into a bazillion other formats, including one that my printer can understand. Why can't someone just tell me what :if: line I need to convert PS to whatever for my printer and we call it even?
I laugh at anyone who claims that linux is going to replace Windows at home anytime soon.
