It's raining now. I got home about 30 minutes before it started. Close one. If I didn't need to actually get to bed, I'm in the right mood to just sit on the balcony and watch it rain. Maybe sipping hot chocolate.
I meet with my boss on Thursday morning for my review. My boss has almost 30 reports to review this cycle. Good thing it happens only once per year. I don't think anything exciting will come from the review, but I wanted an earlier time rather than later, just to find out how it all will go.
Song lyrics I heard today: "I've been around the world and found that only stupid people are breeding." Heh.
I'm officially tired of this whole dark-by-5pm business. I'm ready for sunset to be around 8 or 9 in the evening. It's too depressing otherwise.
I moved a 30GB file from one distributed file system to another. That was exciting. I also ran some jobs on 300 CPUs. It's surprising how quickly I've forgotten the days at the UW when moving 800MB of data was heaving lifting, and distributing across 6 CPUs was a feat to be proud of.
Free breakfast at work breeds bad habits. I headed out the door this morning having eaten only half a cookie. I had a good bowl of granola at work, but it somehow didn't feel right. In grad school it's sort of cute to eat breakfast in your office. At work, it feels, well, sort of like I rushed out of the house and am having to make up for it at the office. OTOH, it is sorta funny to see all these people eating Cherio's at 4 in the afternoon as a mid-day snack. Cereal in bowl + milk and everything.
